i got a friend who was cheated by a man and got a son with him for 18 months.the birth cert got her name but the man not allow her to see the son.she is not registered and is now age 22+.can she report to police .

Dr. Love replied :

Dear slooi98, I am so sorry to hear about your friend. It must be devastated for your friend for not able to see her own son.

I would think it is best that she seeks legal advises (see a lawyer). This way your friend will understand better her positions and what is her rights.

However, Dr. Love could not advise on the legals related stuffs eh ;-)

Good luck to your friend.

hey, if you read The Star - on the second last page or so, there is a listing of support centers, such as mental health group, women aid group, cancerlink - these are good sources to get the first level help. Most of the time, there are volunteers who can give better advice and suggestions moving forward. Also, they provide networking support- forum, support groups - help one to overcome this emotion /situation....so ask your friend to seek help - do something right !

slooi98, the number for Women's Support Group in Kuala Lumpur is 03 7960 3030. The service is FREE.

Please visit the website :

slooi98, the questions regarding compensation is really best to refer to the legal advisor. Your friend's case has to be carefully evaluated by them before you know what your friend can do or cannot do. My readers out here may suggest an opinion but may not necessarily a right action to do.

Good luck.
